Asset Limited Income Constrained but Employed. ALICE workers educate our children, keep us healthy, and make our quality of life possible, yet do not earn enough to support their own families. ALICE workers can consist of teachers, first responders, childcare workers , police officers and fire fighters. The very ones that take care of us often times do not have enough to take care of themselves and their families.

Texoma Gives is a 16-hour, online giving event used grow philanthropy in Texoma and surrounding areas.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA), provides FREE tax prep for low to moderate income in Wichita Falls and the surrounding areas. This past tax season, we had over a $5 MILLION dollars in refunds and saved $856,447 in prep fees. This ALL went straight back into our community. This was accomplished by our amazing volunteers and lots of hard work.

We completed 3,392 tax returns, impacting over 5,000 individuals in our community. The average overall income was raised from $26,440 to $27,450. That is an average of $1,010 per client that walked through our doors. Please help the VITA program to continue this essential and inexpensive service to our community. Please join and support us as we continue to make an effort for lasting and sustainable change in our community!

2-1-1: A Vital Service for Help

Everyone knows about 9-1-1. But few people know about 211, the nationwide service for non-emergency life challenges. Right now as more people need help during this global crisis, they might not know where to turn. The answer is 211.

These three numbers can offer a lot of help. During this global crisis, 211 has responded to thousands of calls, texts and emails and provided help that people in our community need.

It’s all because when people contact 211 they get caring, expert help. The real people—trained 211 specialists—on the other end of the 24/7 hotline identify the root causes of a client’s problems and connect them to local resources such as:

  • Housing

  • Food

  • Medical and mental health care

  • Job training

  • Child care

  • Legal assistance

  • Addiction treatment

  • Disaster recovery

  • Transportation

  • Financial coaching

  • Disability resources

  • Veterans services

  • Volunteer opportunities

  • More

211, funded in part by North Texas Area United Way, fielded more than 11 million calls across the country in 2018, as well as almost 1 million texts, chats, and emails, plus another 13 million web searches. That adds up to tens of millions of lives changed through this vital national service.

If you need help, please reach out to 211.
