ABOUT NTAUW
The North Texas Area United Way (NTAUW) operates through two vital branches to create lasting community impact. Our in-house, grant-funded programs provide essential services, while our fundraising and community impact initiatives mobilize communities into action. By uniting people and resources, we work to ensure that all individuals and families have the opportunity to thrive. Both branches are central to our mission of improving the quality of life in North Texas, with a focus on education, financial stability, and health. Together, we are building a stronger, more resilient community where everyone can succeed.
Grant Programs
We offer a range of federal and state-funded grant programs dedicated to early childhood education, health services, and financial assistance. To learn more about these programs, please explore the links below.
Our VITA program provides free tax filing assistance to individuals and families meeting IRS-determined income requirements, ensuring that lower-income households get the support they need during tax season. The 2-1-1 service connects community members to essential local resources for basic needs assistance and serves as an information hub during disasters.
The Parents as Teachers and HIPPY programs offer in-home visits from trained educators who provide early childhood education directly to families. These programs help support children's development and empower parents to be their child's first teacher.
Through Help Me Grow, we link parents to critical resources and provide interactive activities at the Family Resource Center to support early childhood developmental milestones. Our Nurse-Family Partnership provides personalized nursing support and education for first-time mothers, offering guidance and assistance until their child reaches the age of two.
Our Texas School Ready! program delivers comprehensive training, coaching, and educational materials to childcare providers in Wichita County, helping them improve the quality of care and education they offer. Additionally, our fatherhood engagement program provides targeted support and valuable tips for fathers to become more engaged and active in their children’s lives.
Fundraising Efforts &Funded Partner Grants
We currently fund 19 local nonprofit partners selected through an annual RFP process. Some of our partners request funds for a certain initiative while others request funding for general operations. We are often asked why we would need to raise funds for other organizations. The answer is simple. Our partners’ first responsibility is their clients. Time spent fundraising takes away from the critical work that each of them does.
The wonderful thing about NTAUW’s two-branch system is that our grants meet needs in our community that directly support our mission. Additionally, allowable indirect funding significantly funds our operation and overhead costs. Those funds allow us to give the funds we raise directly back to our community through the nonprofits we support. You can feel good about your donation to the North Texas Area United Way, knowing that your donation benefits nonprofits and citizens in Wichita County. Your donation is used to make a difference in the lives of your neighbors.
