ABOUT NTAUW

There are two branches of The North Texas Area United Way (NTAUW). One branch is our in-house, grant-funded programs. The other is our fundraising and community impact work. Both are equally important to achieving our goal of improving the quality of life in our community through education, financial stability, and health.

Grant Programs

We have several federal and state-funded grant programs aimed at early childhood education, health, and financial assistance. You can read about these programs more in-depth by clicking the links below.

Our VITA program helps those who are under an IRS-determined income level file their taxes for free. 2-1-1 connects clients with resources to help with basic needs. They also act as the information hub in a disaster. Home visitors from Parents as Teachers and HIPPY meet with families in their homes for early childhood education. Staff of the Help Me Grow program connects parents to resources and provides activities at the Family Resource Center. Registered nurses at the Nurse-Family Partnership provide support and education for first-time mothers until their baby is two years old. Coaches from Texas School Ready! provide materials, training, and coaching for childcare providers in Wichita County. Additionally, our fatherhood engagement program focuses on assistance and tips for dads.

Funded Partners and Fundraising Efforts

We currently fund 19 local nonprofit partners selected through an annual RFP process. Some of our partners request funds for a certain initiative while others request funding for general operations. We are often asked why we would need to raise funds for other organizations. The answer is simple. Our partners’ first responsibility is their clients. Time spent fundraising takes away from the critical work that each of them does.

The wonderful thing about NTAUW’s two-branch system is that our grants meet needs in our community that directly support our mission. Additionally, allowable indirect funding significantly funds our operation and overhead costs. Those funds allow us to give the funds we raise directly back to our community through the nonprofits we support. You can feel good about your donation to the North Texas Area United Way, knowing that your donation benefits nonprofits and citizens in Wichita County. Your donation is used to make a difference in the lives of your neighbors.
